@root In these days, when people are fleeing Twitter from the rampant Musk and looking for a new place for themselves, it's worth recalling this @aral's excellent speech before the EU parliament, 2 years ago, in which he simply explains why #mastodon and the whole #fediverse are not just another corpo-social-media but an attempt to redefine them to serve people not corporations. Created from the bottom up, without central management, monetization of data etc.
